Crownwell Petroleum is an indigenous and proudly Nigerian oil & gas exploration company incorporated in 1993. The company was awarded the Oil Prospecting Licenses for OPL 305 and OPL 306 during the infamous 1993 block bidding round.
25 years later, Crownwell Petroleum is one of the leading, privately held, independent energy companies in Nigeria with expertise in the exploration and production of crude oil and natural gas, Household Equipment, Mining & Exploration, Oil & Gas Drilling Equipment, Acquisition And Interpretation Of Seismic Data, Oil Exploration Services, Supply Of Drilling Equipment. SEP 2000 - PRELIMINARY EXPLORATION
After a 7 year programme, Crownwell had completed several preliminary exploration studies including the acquisition of 2D seismic data, geological mapping and geo chemistry data. The data supported further commitment of resources towards more detailed exploration.
The company also established links with local communities as part of its commitment to giving back to indigens by way of job creation, development and training.
OCT 2015 - ENVIRONMENT IMPACT ASSESSMENT
After acquiring additional funding, Crownwell was able to complete a Environment Impact Assessment (2008).
This is a compulsory regulatory requirement and consisted of a long proposal detailing environmental considerations and how Crownwell would respond and proactively manage HSE and Environmental risks.
Further data acquisition activities were completed using low cost innovative exploration technologies.
SEP 2017 - FURTHER EXPLORATION
After a 5 year work programme including aeromagnetic data acquisition with super imposed Remote Sensing and Landsat data, areas of extremely high prospectivity were identified in the southern parts of both licenses.
This prompted the board to present a new work programme to the regulator with the aim of completing test wildcat wells and completing capital intensive 3D seismic acquisition.
"License extension granted in January 2021 for a period of 5 years"
Recognising the extensive work completed on the concession spanning a near 20 year period. The governement approved an extension to continue further exploration and test well drilling.
Crownwell seeks to, using the latest Prospect/Play map developed using the vast amount of data available, begin test well drilling in the immediate term.
